About Me

I hold the rank of shodan in Aikido, an intriguing rank which I have found to be a ’state’ of learning that goes beyond practicing techniques. Although I have had to stop physical training owing to my disability I do try to apply everything I learn in the dojo to my daily life…with varying degrees of success.

I am a bona fide geek. I am into computers and science fiction in a big way. I even list science as a hobby :D

Having said that, I believe the human race is spiritually in tatters because of the rapid development of technology. I also believe that a lot of the suffering we put ourselves and others through is a direct result of the imbalance that is currently the human psyche (for lack of a better word).

About the blog

Daily Aikido aims to help its readers (and its author!) live a more balanced, stress free life through the teachings of Aikido and its related philosophies.

What is Aikido?

Morihei UeshibaAikido is a modern Japanese Martial Art, the core tenet of which is co-ordination of mind and body.

Indeed Aikido is often translated as “the way of harmonious spirit” and the founder, Morihei Ueshiba and many of his students taught that this “way” was only acheivable through body-mind co-ordination.
